March 2016
Euclid, Ohio – Radix is pleased to announce the arrival of its latest Underwriters Laboratories UL 2196 certification listing for its growing DuraLifeTM FPL family. The new DuraLifeTM FPL 12 AWG cable features two Oxygen-Free Bare Copper (OFHC) conductors insulated with ceramifiable silicone rubber protected by a low smoke zero halogen FRPE red outer jacket. These cables are designed for use in FHIT System No. 28A.
Radix DuraLife Market Manager Paul Wellem says the new 12 AWG DuraLifeTM cable gives installers more options for longer wire runs.
“Many installers replace 14 gauge with 12 gauge on longer UL 2196 cable runs due to voltage drop. Now they can maintain system consistency and avoid higher installation costs or variance inquiries with their AHJ by using a certified Radix DuraLifeTM FPL cable.”
In addition to this new DuraLifeTM FPL 12 AWG unshielded cable, Radix also offers UL 2196 certified 18, 16, and 14 AWG cables for the industry’s most complete package of power-limited 2-hour fire certified circuit integrity system cables.
In 2014, Radix was the first company to receive flexible, silicone insulated cable UL 2196 re-certification after UL changed the standard in 2012. Radix continues to lead the industry with the most available 2-hour fire resistive cable sizes, configurations and highest EMT fill rates.
Radix is the leading authority on installation of UL 2196 compliant circuit systems. In addition to DuraLifeTM FPL cables, the 2196 system includes a long and specific list of UL approved components and installation guidelines which must be strictly followed to have a fully certified alarm circuit system.
All Radix DuraLifeTM FPL cables are UL 2196 Certified, ULC-S139 Compliant (fire only) / UL 1424 listed. FHIT & FHITC Systems NO. 28A (Unshielded) or NO. 28B (Shielded). Low Smoke, Zero Halogen design (LSOH). NEC Type FPL for use in protective electrical systems (EMT).
