Position Summary:

Monitors, evaluates, reviews, and verifies products including documentation and procedures, to ensure conformity to customer standards. Maintains lab and oversees lab technicians in quality performance to ensure conformity to process and procedures. This position will be located at our Euclid, Ohio plant.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs physical and material testing as required by control plan and/or UL/CSA requirements including first piece and final inspections
  • Maintains Quality logs as required, Quality Alerts/FYI’s, and other quality related administration.
  • Facilitates customer corrective action requests including verifying closure and assists lab technicians in performing these tasks
  • Conduct raw material and/or product assessments relative to new product development activities as needed and coach lab techs in process as required.
  • Issue Vendor DMR’s and approves corrective action responses including assisting lab techs in process.
  • Schedule internal and perform external calibrations as required and assists lab techs in process.
  • Coordinates the Integration and maintenance of the ISO 9001 standard elements
  • Plans and conducts Internal Audits with Internal Audit Team per ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Ensures lab and lab technicians are in compliance with Radix-Wire core beliefs and coaches associates to those standards
  • Clearly communicates Quality expectations and results throughout the organization via TEAM meetings and employee communication
  • Ensures compliance with applicable agency (UL, CSA, NEMA, etc.) standards and requirements
  • Utilizes methodologies such as FMEA, 5 Why’s, 8D, SPC, and process mapping
  • Drive improvements and monitoring of Vendor performance
  • Ownership and development of all Quality Standards associated with incoming raw materials, in process materials and final products
  • Responsible for communication externally and providing the linkage between the customer and Radix on Quality related topics.
  • Lead external and internal customer Quality communications both written and verbal
  • Ensures timely closure and effectiveness of Internal, Customer and Supplier corrective actions.
  • Responsible for corporate RMA process and approval
  • Oversees the calibration and certification of all in-house measurement devices
  • Mentors Quality lab technicians and assumes lead in quality lab.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • High school or Technical diploma – 4-year degree in a technical science preferred
  • 3 years minimum experience leading a quality department in a manufacturing environment including labs, equipment, and associates.
  • Involvement in quality processes with regulatory and statutory products and services
  • Knowledge of ISO Procedures and Vocabulary including experience conducting ISO 9001 Internal Audits
  • Capable of using basic metrology equipment: Calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, Pin gages, Optical Comparator including Tensile and elongation on round and die cut rubber specimens
  • Capable of using Electrical Test equipment: Hi-Pot tester, IR testing, continuity

Other Helpful Qualities:

  • Self-starter with initiative to make decisions
  • Experience in Manufacturing, Automotive, or Aerospace experience a plus
  • Quality Training or certifications a plus
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Good time management skills
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • ASQ certification (CQT, CQA, CMI, CQE) or plan to achieve

Position Summary:
The employee is responsible for operating multiple silicone extrusion lines within the Sil-A-Blend Department. Silicone rubber is extruded onto bare conductor as specified on the engineering design sheet. The process continues by curing the material in hot air vulcanization ovens, and ran through a constant concentric serving machine and through a second silicone rubber extrusion process. The process then marks a print legend onto the wire, 100% inspects the wire for dialectical failures and winds the required footage onto a finished reel.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Produce wire per design. Record production and material transactions. Label, inspect/test product.
  • Record operating data on Product Check Sheets
  • Organize daily activity for best possible time management:
  • Prioritize day so machines are running as much as possible.
  • Float to operations/machines within the cell which need to be performed.
  • Perform required preventative maintenance, tooling and equipment inspection/organization, and daily work space cleaning.
  • Safe lifting of reels.
  • Accurate material movement and production transactions.
  • Correct manufacture/winding of product to design. Appropriate productivity; running speed of machines, fair complement of concurrent running machines, team work with other operators, and overall time management.
  • Accurate data collection and recording
  • Proper product inspection, testing, and labeling.

Machine operation:

  • Silicone rubber extrusion and jacketing.
  • Striping/legend printing
  • Winding, (auto, manual, barrel packing lines 1,2, 4 and 5 only)
  • Spiral striper (lines 1,2, 4 and 5 only)
  • Product labeling.
  • Fiberglass Beam Winding Operation
  • Reading measuring devices correctly
    • Calipers
    • Target System Measurement readout
  • Beginner Computer Skills

  • Accurate material movement and production transactions.
  • Appropriate productivity; running speed of machines, fair complement of concurrent running machines, team work with other operators, and overall time management.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Capable of working 41.25 (5x8.25) repetitively.
